At Sousatone, much of the work happens before we twist a single dial. Feel free to share photographs, paintings, clips, or even poems that inspire you with their use of color. Our goal is to create a signature style for your project, one that both respects what was shot and pushes it into unique territory. We want your film to look like your film—not a redux of the latest fad in contrast and color temperature.
Every project is low budget. We'll work with you to find a rate that makes sense given the scope of your project and the reasonable amount of time required to do an amazing job coloring it. In order to provide an accurate estimate, it's helpful to know the length of your project, a ballpark for the amount of shots, a heads-up if there's a lot of camera movement, and any other information you think might be relevant (problematic exposure, multiple capture formats, etc.). If you're comfortable, sending along a secure link to a rough cut of your project, such as a Vimeo link with a password, is an ideal way to start our conversation.
I always wanted to fix...
The reflection of the boom operator in the hood of the car! The actor's booger in that closeup! That inexplicable pink thing in the background! Even though your peers assure you that your project is so good that nobody but yourself, the obsessive director, will ever notice that particular thing, it doesn't mean you shouldn't fix it. After all, you're going to be the one out on the festival circuit watching the film a thousand times. You want it to be perfect; you don't want to dread the part when that thing shows up. Fortunately, the workflow at Sousatone is fluid with After Effects. Whether it's creating visual band-aides (compositing+motion tracking), performing advanced camera shake removal, or doing full-on sky replacement, we're happy to provide these services as part of your package. Color correction is always about more than just color.
